You know what, I had an ISX in my '06 and it was a boat anchor, I ordered a '12 with a D13 cuz they said it was the way to go and so far have replaced all the pollution crap by 60,000 miles. EGR Valve, EGR Cooler, Venturi Pipe,Harness, DPF sensor, and I can't remember what else. These engines are a crap shoot at best, not trying to bum you out but unfortunately it's the way that it is with these things. Don't let anyone try to tell you one is better than another cuz again, it's a crap shoot. Since I've had all that replaced, so far we're doing good. It's pretty much a level playing field now, depends on who's giving the best service. If you can, take whatever warranty you can get ahold of. Engine, Harness, and especially Aftertreatment is what I would advise.

Im leaning towards the isx since no one wants to work on a volvo engine other than the dealers and if I go the isx route there are more options for service..not to mention aftermarket stuff (delete kits, turbos).

There is a pending class action lawsuit against CAT for the C13 and C15 motors...look into it...might be able to recoup some of ur l$$$

I never really have any issues with my isx. Had to change out all the DEF crap, but that was a know issue with the Pete 587.

Well again, every engine manufacturer is having the same issues. Good Luck.
