    Original motor and Eaton 13 manual transmission ,next week 7 years old,bought it new in June 07,still pulling great over 8mpg,; deserves a drink, some fresh Rottela T6,he loves it :)

    Congrats on a significant milestone. It certainly flies in the face of all the negative reports on the Volvo engine and tranny by many drivers here.
    What's your secret in making your truck run well after so many miles?
    Has the engine had any kind of serious problem or overhaul. ?
    That 780 is a wicked looking truck. An excellent choice in spec for an O/O.

    How many times did you change injectors and turbo? Don't get me wrong I like Volvo 780, but only if was possible to order like a glider, pre emission N14 with I-shift or Detroit 12.7

    Congrats! The company I work for runs all Volvos. We do mostly oilfield hauling (frac sand, some flatbed stuff like pipe, chemicals, etc), as well as a little bit of general freight when the patch gets slow. Anyway, it has been my observation that the Volvo motors are smoother, quieter, and longer lasting than the Cummins ISX, but the Cummins pulls better (as long as it is programmed to do so, of course). We have in-framed 2 ISX's just in the past few months, both with less than 1,000,000 miles. We have yet to in-frame a Volvo.

    Please understand, we are hard on trucks and engines. Unloading sand requires the truck to sit and run the PTO for approximately an hour at high-idle, and it gets hot here in Oklahoma and Texas. It keeps us from being able to show real good fuel mileage like the OTR guys can (they say we use 4-5 gallons of diesel every time we unload, which sometimes is several times a day), and plus, we almost never haul light. 50,000 lbs is a normal load, which puts us right around 80,000 all the time.

    By the way, why does your speedometer register in kilometers, but the odometer shows mileage?

    Can you not set the display to show Km or Mi like most other trucks? That is probably why the speedometer is in Km and the display odometer is in Mi. I can do that with my 2013 Freightliner Columbia glider, which is based on pre-08 truck design. You can set in the options if you want display in miles of kilometers.

    Cowpie, our trucks are the same way. But I see the OP is from Canada, so I figured he would want kilometers showing on the odometer.

    Maybe just translating for us. 1.3 million miles means something to us down here, 2 million km not so much.

    We are using the metric system , all the vehicles built for Canadian market have the speedometer marked in km/h outer in white and in mph inner in red, in USA is reversed. Sure I can set the odometer in km, or fuel economy in l/km, or imperial gallon/mile or temperature in Celsius but this is my preferred set up; us gallon and miles because I'm getting paid / mile and buy most of the fuel in US in gallon.

    It's kind of funny how most of Europe uses the metric system for distance except the UK. We still do things in miles, not kilometers. It's the only thing we've stuck to in the old system of measure. UK uses liters too, for gas etc.
    But Celsius is pretty much across the board on temp though.
