Got up this morning and got out to walk the dog. Left the key in the truck. Came back and the door was locked. It's an '07, 780. Had to break the back window latch to get in. The Swift Driver beside me backed up so I could use his steps. I tried using five other keys from other drivers in Volvos at the rest area. I've tried to get it to lock again like that with out a key, but it won't do it again. Don't know how it did it this time. Anyone else ever had this to happen? I most of the time keep a spare key in my pocket. But I've missed placed it. Had my dog lock me out one time when I jumped out to dump the trash. But this time he wasn't in the truck. I will be getting a new key made.
Not possible, but did, lock door?

Sorry to hear about your bad luck, glad you were able to get back in..... had my dog lock me out before too. After that I had a few spare keys cut. One is tied up 'somewhere' inside the frame rail with bailing wire and duct tape... just in case...
I don't have any experience with volvo but my truck is set up the same way. (not supposed to lock without the key ie. If you shut a 'locked' door it resets to unlocked) Perhaps the mechanism just 'fell'. Chalk that one up to Murphys law and get some keys cut, it could happen again. -
I used to lock myself out every now and then. I keep a James Bond lock pick set in my wallet. I was back in that truck in two seconds.

There was glitch on some of them that for no apparent reason a power surge would engage the locks. I was sitting in mine when it happened, kind of creepy.

Raiderfanatic Thanks this.

I had something similar happen on an International 4300 rollback. When you pulled the outer handle to open the drivers door, it would pull the lock down and lock the door.

I was in NV climbing W on I 80 around the 75 @ 2AM and a guy way off in the distance hollered, "Can somebody help me, I locked the keys int the truck and I can't get out?" We told him to insert a rock into the window but he didn't have one in the cab. Bet next time he will.

My dog locked me out at the blue beacon in Kansas City.Thank god that place wasn't busy.I was stuck in the stall for at least 3 hrs waiting for road brkdown dept at my company to get me off hold.I got tired of waiting and took the little window out that's on the bottom of the passenger door.I was going in to pay the guy and coming right back out.I already let Tiny out before I was getting trk washed.

My dog locks me out all the time. I keep a spare in my pocket and another spare hidden somewhere that is accessible from outside the truck. Haven't had to use that 1 yet but it's there just in case

I just kept my spare on a string tied around my neck, so I had a Volvo key necklace.
