Ok, my passenger door power window will not work, it is in the up position, about two weeks ago I had my door skin replace under warranty, it was rusting through. When I got my truck back from Volvo dealer, I noticed when I press the button to make the passenger window to go down it would go up, when I press to go up it went down. I though my switch on the driver door was going bad. All of a sudden both windows went down and stayed there, all this was happening while I was driving down the road. Pull over to the side of the road and power the truck down, sat for ten minutes, and managed to get both windows up. Made bee line to the nearest Volvo dealer, pick up two door switches one for driver side the other passenger side.
I replace the driver side first, everything worked on the drivers side but still the passenger-side still didn't work from either side, so I replace passenger switch, still I can't get the window to go up or down. I think something shorting to ground and that side. The F4 fuse is good in the fuse box. Going back too Volvo dealer that fix the door under warranty. And ares some hell, the widow was working before the door skin was replace.!

I'd say it's safe to say it's something the dealer done. When you say "skin" I just think of the outer part of the door. They do sell body parts like that but that is usually a body shop that uses them. If they replaced the whole door shell then they had to pull the harness out and feed it into the new door. They might of scraped some wires in the process. Probably at either end of that rubber boot you see on the forward jamb. I'd say on the door side of the jamb. Being sharp metal it could easily skin the wires with someone being careless. Pull that boot off is easy and you can see if there is any wire damage right there. Otherwise the panel has to come back off for full inspection.

I doubt it's the motor as it doesn't reverse connections. It either hesitates from worn brushes or goes bad all together. If it's under warranty make them replace the harness and not use electrical tape. If you pull that rubber boot back then secretly mark one of the wires with a black magic marker to make sure they do replace it.

Yes they did replace the whole door, like you said, i will mark the wires on the inside of the rubber boot. Am going to make them pull the inside door planes off wile an there. I know they test the door switches, they had green finger prints on both switches. ! The installer check the window operation, Yap the window go up and down! " NEXT "
