Wow! 2,860! Did it throw a rod or is it knocking? What is wrong with it? Look on ebay, http://www.ebay.com/itm/2011-VOLVO-...Parts_Accessories&hash=item56673399b8&vxp=mtr I see one. Try some junk yards for a used motor.
Make sure that drivers gets the proper training,I can't imagine what gear he was in. Lucky all that was lost was a motor. -
1) I would get on the phone to find out the cost of an inframe in the area he broke down
2) Find a good used engine in the area for replacement
3) Find cost of having truck shipped back to your town for your mechanic to fix it
So for now you either fire this guy, lay him off until repairs are made or get him a rental truck. -
It was knocking for few miles , until died . mechanic already looked , told need completely overhaul , found broken parts in the pan . He told was on 10 gear ( 12 total ) , but who knows what exactly was . I already gave to this guy my own truck , because until this situation , he mostly was careful and organized guy .
I saw this motor on ebay , trying to find never , because the price be about the same ,want to last longer . Thanks for replays . -
Try MGM truck repair in crest hill just north of Joliet il. Don't have there number at this time, it's in the truck. These young men know volvo engine.
Any one in the Chicagoland that has a volvo engine goes there. They do I all. -
For a used engine check LKQ. You will find them on the net.

Why buy used ? did you open the motor ? was the engine block damaged also? if only exchangeable parts are gone, pistons liners heads, do on in frame @ Volvo; they have 3 levels depends what you need from 9000$ to 18000$ or 28,000 for reman , here in Canada, in USA is lower price and ... you get warranty 250- or 350,000 miles for extra 750$ for the job; What warranty/insurance you get paying 15,000$ for a used motor? simple lottery, could be back in shop in weeks and pay again;
here are prices in Canada in cad, about 10% lower in USA; bad photo sorry

I just bought an in frame for my Volvo. It cost me $700 hundred a hole for piston, liner and rings($4200). Crank going to be about $3000(give or take a hundred) if it messed it up. I didn't need any rods, but was told get your money out for those too. The bearings and gaskets another few hundred. Heads were a little over $2000 a piece( if you need them). That's not including the labor. Expect anywhere from a $100 a hour to $150($137 Memphis). Think book calls for any where from 40 to 60 hours. I got $12,000 just in parts so far. So figure about $20,000 at least. Volvo parts are crazy high. You not going to find them in the states any where but Volvo. There might be some guys that have some connections that I couldn't find, but I had to buy everything from Volvo. It will be the last Volvo engine that I will ever have. Sorry for your loss.
