If you need to add Dot 4 Brake Fluid it means you have a leak, it's either your Master or Slave Cylinder. It's better to just change both and be done with it before it leaves you stranded.

If you have a leak, air and moisture are likely in the system as well. Air, moisture, and brake fluid can cause your cylinders (both master and slave) and lines to corrode. Or at least that was my experience on an old Pete cabover I once had. If one of the cylinders freezes up while moving, all you can do is cut the engine and step on the brake to stop. This kind of issue needs fixing right away.

I second the advice here. Get that slave or hydraulic line replaced asap. It WILL leave you stranded and you will not be able to stop or start.
