Volvo D13 / EGR valve fail ....again

In 2012 I replaced the original EGR first time after 900,000 miles, last year ,2013 was gone again, (1 year and 3 months, no warranty), and yesterday again; unfortunately again 2 months over the 1 year warranty ; got some fault codes and was leaking oil, burning on hot surface ,I couldn't stay in the truck, the fumes were smelling terrible.
The price for this engeniering masterpiece is 1400$ parts+800$ core change !!! ( if the job is not done at Volvo) plus about 5 hours labour, about 2200$ including taxes. For some reasons Volvo doesn't sell original and something is wrong with this over priced reman.
Overpriced low tech bad design, I was thinking I could buy a 70" HDTV, or large stainless steel fridge, or 7 days cruise vacation for this $$;
