Ok , i drive 2012 volvo with Ishift and 343k miles on it.
A week ago i noticed vibration while going uphill. Whole truck was shaking, like going over rumble strips.
It mostly happens uphill, between 1000-1400 rpms. While truck shakes, rpm needle shakes as well, nothing wild, but i can see its jumping a little bit.
If i let off the gas pedal, vibration is gone.
I changed fuel filter, still the same.
The other day, while on delivery, i was checking cables and wires on the batteries.
I moved them around , but everything was tight.
Afyer that, on my way to the shop, vibration was gone.
They test drove it and couldn't find anything wrong.
Today i took the load, and after 200 miles truck started to shake again.
Its all good on flat ground, no vibration. It starts to shake uphill when rpms drops under 1300-1350, and again, if i let of the gas, shake is gone immediately.
All tires are new and aligment is done.
Any ideas? Could it be that there is something wrong with those wires on batteries?

What the engine is in????
I have same problem with my 2009 Volvo Cummins. Few days ago engine suddenly starts vibrate as you described. After engine was turned off and started again vibration was gone. In the next few days the fuel mileage went from 6.8 to 5.1. DPF constatly loaded with soot in every 100 - 150 mil. and regeneration required signal is ON. Exhaust gases temperature is high. Rough idle, misfire or faulty cylinders (I have Insite to run diagnostic.) For now truck in the shop scheduled for overhead inspection on Monday afternoon.
Will inform you if interesting.mladen86 Thanks this. -
Its d13 volvo. It uses DEF. No check eng light or any other light.
Fuel mileage is not great. Right now 6-6.5 with 40000 lbs.
I only got this truck for two weeks so i dont know is it normal or bad. My first trip i got 7 mpg with 39000 lbs.
Im my case everything is normal till i go uphill.
Idle is normal too.
This fuel filter is 5 days old. Should it look like this?Last edited: Aug 24, 2014

The D13 is easely effected by algae in the tank.
Have you had your diesel looked at for those critters?Another Canadian driver and mladen86 Thank this. -
No i haven't. How can i check it?

I am thinking its not a drivetrain issue as the vibration would not go away. Could possibly be an injector wiring harness. But vibrations are very hard to figure out sometimes. Could be an electrical proble aa well. Unfortunately you most likely will have to wait til it gets worse and happens more frequently or all the he time

I can't see any fuel in the fuel filter. Normaly there should be,right? And the bottom of the filter looks dirty.

could be cracked injector cups or possibly the DPF filter needs cleaning.
filter needs cleaning at about 250K.
has to be taken out and cleaned by a shop.Another Canadian driver and mladen86 Thank this. -
Just went through this last week, 2012 D13. Vibration just like a driveline problem, would almost shake the stick outa your hand. Thought maybe leveler valve, height adjustment and lo and behold it was injectors. Volvo has a service bulletin out on these as there is an updated version. O rings, cups and a six pack of injectors was the fix, under my thread " injectors".
