Hi everyone,I bought my truck couple week ago and have discovered loosing of coolant. My mechanic has checked everything but did not find any external leak,he also checked erg cooler but everithing is ok with it. He told me could be problem with enjector cup. My question is it possible to loose coolant through enjectors cups or no?

    Thank you in advance

Eh I guess it could happen. The fuel system is at a much higher pressure which actually results in fuel being pushed into the coolant. I don't really think you're losing coolant into the fuel. What's the rate of coolant usage

We can not see any fuel in coolant . The usage is about a gallon for 700 miles

if you're on the original cups, yes.

the D13 has big problems with those original cups.

the Volvo I drive has 425K and is on it's 3rd set.

if it is, do the upgrade. my company didn't.

the first few were under warranty, now it's their dime.

I had a '09 780 but w/ a cummins, approx. 540k miles. Had same issue 6 mo. ago, lost about a 1/2 to 1 gal. coolant a day. could not see the leak for a few weeks. There was a small drip off the bunk heater fittings but it was not the culprit. The problem was the radiator expansion tank (reservoir) on top of radiator. The area where there is the tube for sensor underneath that monitors coolant level, that goes bad on many/most volvos, according to the volvo shop I talk with. The plastic tank develops cracks near the sensor, that is an airtight compartment that the sensor sits in, and the tank can't be repaired. It seemed to leak going down the road, not while sitting, and I had a tripac so no idling. When it did leak, it ran onto other parts/frame so hard to trace leak initially. Not sure if your d13 has same tank design/setup as with my cummins but it might, I wouldn't doubt it. Part was about $380 (ridiculous!?), dealer wanted near $770 bucks to do it. I got part and replaced it myself, not that difficult, but u must drain the coolant of course.

Since then, I bought a '15 evolution frghtshaker, much better mpg but bigger payments. I could no longer take the constant breaking of parts on the volvo, poor quality. Sleeper is great of course, but trk is heavy. If you must get a volvo, buy a new one with warranty, but I don't recommend it. Freightliners getting the best mpg now. Good luck and hope it is not something major. But keep this in mind for future coolant losses.
