I want to bring my 9mm handgun with me, I have the concealed carry. I think I'm ok in kentucky where I live but do they have different laws in each state? What about canada? Is there special laws carrying handguns in commercial vehicles? What ammo can I bring? Thanks guys
What are interstate hand gun laws?

Seriously do you actually think your company would allow it?
tangerineGT and BrenYoda883 Thank this. -
I believe federal law dictates no hand guns in a cmv. Plus in NY you would be screwed if caught. I'm sure your dispatcher will understand when you reject a load because your packing heat
BrenYoda883 Thanks this. -

Hi SLK International,
How are you?
I personally believe in the right to own and bear firearms, no question about it.
However, with the way many gun laws are in many states, plus the provinces of Canada, it is actually safer NOT to have any firearms inside your truck whatsoever. You would have more to worry about from D.O.T. and other law enforcement officers than from the criminals that you need to protect yourself from.
This is very SAD but TRUE.SLK international and BrenYoda883 Thank this. -
no guns in commercial vechicles anywhere..............period

but i get the point guys. Thankspattyj Thanks this. -
There are no laws that prohibit carry in a commercial vehicle vs a car. OF COURSE you have to follow the laws of the individual states. Don't even think about Canada. You need to do some research on reciprocity with your KY license, and states that don't have reciprocity, you would need to have it locked up and separated from its ammo, with magazines unloaded. HP ammo is not legal in NJ, but that is the only state I'm aware of. Once again, whether you're in a car or commercial vehicle the law doesn't change. Hopefully this concludes the "can I carry a gun in my truck" threads for this week. If you do a search, you'll see this question is answered every week and every week someone says no, but never cites a law, because they can't cite what's not there.
ZephyrSoCal and brsims Thank this.
