I did a side by side with plig and play h11 5000k hid on one side and the led plug and play bulbs in the other. Do not waste your money on the led!!! I returned them right away, they don't project far at all.

I then bought the kit from hhrvlighting.com and did a side by side with another truck that has the trucklite led lights and my light output was superior and I paid 500 opposed to him paying 1600.

I am a lighting fanatic. I literally try every option possible and blow way to much money in the pursuit of being able to see. I was going to retrofit my own kit until I came across the hhrv one, it was exactly what I was going to do but with all the hard work done. So easy to install.

I have brand new assemblies though, if your lense covers are crummy then you'll need em cleaned real good.

I also replaced the entire assembly when the HID from hhrv were plugged in,start from best possible baseline.
    Very pleased since apr,2013.
note the hhrv web address may have changed.

I lined the reflector bowl with aluminum foil...what seems to actually happen is the reflective coating in the bowl wears off and the bowl looses its reflection capabilities....now I was just trying a few things and when I lined the bowl with ordinary household aluminum foil..and you have to work the foil a little bit to seat it properly and then rub out all the wrinkles....I also did the same thing to that plate that sits out in front of the lens.......NO its not a "professional"solution...but for the cost of some foil that you probably already have in your kitchen and the time its takes to actually complete the job....and the results you get when finished...give it a try.

I have a cheaper solution to the HH RV kit.. About half the cost. The only downside is the high beam flap will be non-functional (for now)

But Ive been driving with them for about 3 weeks and do not use high beams, at all.

Top pic was taken in my Dads truck. He has brand new OEM headlights. Bottom are yellowed out headlights with the Xenon projector/hid kit installed.

Picture was taken with the same phone by me (Nexus 5)

Very interesting but not helpful ,we need part numbers or a link ,also are they legal?
I agree high beams are very seldom used but can you just delete them?
The HH web site quotes the relevant FMV regulations (can of worms)- can this meet them as well?
Nice pictures by the way ,how about some pics of the projector and the installation process?

You can get the projectors anywhere really.

They are the mini h1 projectors. Hhrv guy uses morimoto projectors, which are the same Chinese ones with their stamp. Some quality control possibly but 3x the price.

You need an h1 hid kit..

As far as the mounting bracket... I had some made. Which is my design and a local shop manufactured them. About 14 ga stainless steel brackets that were laser cut.

Its pretty much plug and play with the exception of the high beam flap on the projector.

It is a morimoto mini d2s and he orders from theretrofit source. Com and mentices that on his site. You can go to a junkyard and find one if you know the cars they are in, or buy them elsewhere online for sure but it also has a custom plug and play harness, a quality hid kit that doesn't throw a code on the volvo.

It is stuff you could do all by yourself for sure but the end result probably won't be much cheaper at all and you harness will probably look like crap and you'll have some garbage ebay hid kit in there.

For people who want a very easy install and a quality professional kit they can go with the hhrv one. If you have the know how to put it together yourself, well good on you.

I have the know how and I still bought a kit there. I added to it of course cause I'm crazy like that but I found it very nice to have it all done and ready for a good price.

Is not 500 'bones ' reasonable for a legal lighting upgrade that does not need a trip to the dealer ?

Legal? Cmon. Dont be naive. Look, don't get me wrong.. Its a legit setup.. I'm not knocking it in any way. It is on the expensive side though. Had I not came up with my cheaper solution I would be all over that setup.
