A new and fun twist to the ever growing Volvo fun
Last night my 12v dash went out , left my phone uncharged...
so,I pull out my fuse tester ( the one with alligator clip and probe with light)
I test all fuse's under the dash cover, -
this is what I found-
F 77 12v power dash 20A
F 78 Dome 10A
F 79 CB power Stud 20A
F 80 Battery protection status 15A
F 82 12V Overhead 20A
All fuse's with key to ON postion, no power to them (all fuses inspected and good) I even changed one of the 20A just to be sure.
So, that is one whole row powerless. stumped.

Your first sentence explained the whole thread.
-
check battery protection unit (low voltage disconnect)
-
Is that system on a relay?
-
it is control unit with built in heavy duty relay
if voltage is lower 11.9 (22 V in EU) this unit disconnects row of sleeper/cab consumers till voltage is above 12.7V.
This unit fails sometimes. Really volvo does not make it, it is outsorsing issue -
Did you get this issue resolved? Where is this battery protection unit located? I am having the same problem with an 06 780.

Depend of the built date of your truck up to now i know two different system (Low Voltage Disconnect) on Volvo Truck, look at the door jam LH sticker you will see the month and the year (built date) with that date i will be able to give you more accurate answer.

Look in the tec tray where the fuses are located you will see a (tall relay) with a yellow sticker on the top, that relay is call Latching Relay even tought the terminal position look like a similar standard relay it's not.
If you decide to replace it use the P/N on the yellow sticker. That relay is feeding the fuses involve with the Low Voltage Disconnect system (Battery Lifeguard).
It is one possibility for your problem. . . .
Let me know please.
