2006 d12d. My pressure Guage will start bouncing around then die and stay at 0. Volvo shop test the sensor and it's no good so they put a new one in.... a week later same thing.

Short out wire somewhere maybe? When it works, it works perfectly.

take it to a mechanic who can diagnose why it is shorting out.

I am but in the mean time I thought I would ask. If someone else has had the same problem it could drastically cut down the diagnostic time.

any oil pressure fault code? may be just stepper motor that moves needles is bad.... it is usual problem of Volvo instrumental clusters. They use the same motors, like on many european cars, but car life is 100-300 K miles, truck life is much longer and motors go bad

Yes it has a code for bad pressure sensor. Volvo said last time that they verified good pressure and that the sensor was bad. Upon swapping the sensor it started working again so I would assume the Guage is fine. Maybe not, maybe volvo didn't test anything and just swapped parts
