    If the exhaust pyrometer probe goes bad will it make the engine dee ate cause bad fuel mileage over all what is the effect it may have to the truck. And what will happen if you just ignore it???

    I can't answer your question but most trucks have a computer behind the main dash. If you take the cover off there's a switch that says not to de-rate the engine on a fault code.

    Emission related derate begins on detection of one of the following conditions:

    1. Reducing agent low level
    2. Identification of incorrect reducing agent
    3. Vehicle tampering

    Many conditions of SCR sytem malfunction will cause software to believe "incorrect reducing agent", hence de-rate.
