I have an 06 volvo 670, my gauges, AC, and windshield wipers cut out. Sometimes the headlights and turn signals too. Also the in cab lights above both seats and door lights do not work and the 12v socket on the dash and one mounted on pass side in sleeper. I don't know if all of this is one problem or not. Things I have checked already are the gauge cluster, do not see and damaged wires and the circuit board looks fine. The A/C unit is ok, I've unplugged it to reset it and it makes no difference. The light switch is operational.
The thing is that none of these one components is the issue it's the combination of them that does not work, that leaves me with fuses and relays. Checked every fuse and they are fine. All relays are working, swapped the around to see if the relays will kill something else instead and they do not. This brings me to wiring: when I start moving the fuse box and relays box around everything starts working but when I start the engine I believe the vibration kills it all off.
I don't know where to start with the wiring? Do I check the wiring coming off the battery? Starter? or going to relay box? Or am I going to have to do all of the above?
Another electrical issue 06 vovlo vnl 670

Years ago i had a similar issue on '06 model, there was a relay behind cupholder by fuse panel, an '07+ you wont find those relays,
-
more info it is a 500hp cummins with a 13spd, things that cut out: gauges, wipers, A/c (gets stuck on whatever temp setting and fan does not blow, just whatever comes through the vents), sometimes the headlights and blinkers (but not everytime) the marker interrupter doesnt work but i believe this is a seperate issue, the lights above the driver and pass seat and door lights along with dash 12v plug do not work all the time/ does not matter if gauges and the rest of that struff works or not.
It also has the cummins "ICON" but has been disabled due to ignition issues.
I got this week off so I'm going to start messing with the wiring to see if there are bad connections or bad wiring. -
u have loose connections to power distribution modul (thing with fuses).
Engine wont cutting off, becouse cummins engines are powered from battery box, not from PDM like D12/D13.
So inspect all, check cab to chassis power cabels (red). cab grounding (wight)Zusky407 Thanks this. -
Wire 7475/277 oj was damaged, this is a white wire so I guess cab grounding. It is one of the smaller two wires. Also cleaned all connections.
And just my luck I broke the power wire stud on the pass through. Going to try to fix it with a firewall thru-stud cuz I don't wanna spend 100 on new pass through.Jam009 Thanks this. -
I know this was a long time ago but I figured I'd try and see if you are still around.
I'm having similiar issues with my 06 vnl. so the 7475/277 oj wire was or wasn't the problem? -
Yup still around, it was part of the problem, also had a bad ground between engine and frame and the small black ground wire running from batteries was broken and needed some repair
-
Ok great thanks. That will give some ideas on where to start looking.
-
Basically looks for bad wires, chaffed or broken, clean all ground contacts, make sure all the big ground in the starter area are good and clean all battery terminals
