Hi all, I would really appreciate if someone could help me out with following question. I have Volvo 2006 truck, automatic transmission. It is showing me light check transmission ecu. I took it to Volvo Service and they changed X shifter and after 800 miles the truck stopped again. I took it to the different Volvo Service and they couldn't find what was wrong. They did the test ride and said everything is in perfect function. I went on the road and after 300 miles it started showing light check transmission. Please let me know if anyone had the same problem and what is going on with the truck? I hope someone can help me out. Thank you.

An automatic on any long term truck (aka over 500k) always seemed like a really bad idea..

    try this,
copied and pasted from another forum

"we do have a few of these in our fleet and did encounter the same problem

we have to even disconnect the batteries to make it reset

we found out recently that the ecu was losing its memory so to speak
after contacting volvo we found out that there is a software updates for the ecu and that it has to be reprogramed

also that the ecu once it has to many active and inactive codes it simulates errors

and will not allow it to shift

if you have not already done it take you truck into get the updated software installed and get the codes cleared

this should clear out your problem

    kemo5 Thanks this.

It is bad x-y motor drive. ore rail stuck.

It u have eaton auto shift - do not ignore problem, remove and inspect motors for bearing wear, check brushes. try to shift gears with big screw driver, rails must move freely.

    if u have as-tronic ore i-shift - u have worn shift cylinders

Automated manual transmission. That's the correct term. So, since it's the same as a regular transmission, what's wrong with them? They are built just as strong and will last just as long (if not longer) than a stick. Yes, there are a few problems that can occur due to electrical connections and motors but I'd rather spend $600 o a new shifter than $5k in a full replacement.

-3 pedal automated manual transmission-. The truck runs fine until it gets around 55mph and has to shift from 9th into 10th. At that point it starts to loose power, sputter and stall out or down shift into 2nd. It then stays in 2nd until you turn it off. I have had the J-1939 replaced(transmission wire harness). Could it be batteries, ECM, fuel pump/pressure..? Any suggestions????

    Take a look at TAIB0832 It addresses mid 130 pid 60 fmi 10. New harness is a solution @ about $180. http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...7gfJ4_slI98hthg&bvm=bv.88198703,d.eXY&cad=rja
