Hello, anyone ever use the pre heater for a 1995 gmc white/volvo with a d-12 engine? i seen some stuff on line turn the key to pre heat and release back to start and a light on dash comes on. When goes out start. Is this the case? Also I can see on the heater the long conection piece is split or broken. The metal part. This d-12 it's hard to find people to work on it. Volvo dosent even like to work on it and they made it. Thanks, Brian

    Sorry Brian I don't know about a D12.
On my D16, you turn the key to RUN position and wait for the preglow light to turn off and then start the engine.

D12C and later preheat is controlled with engine ECU and big relay, early D12 and D12A had preheating modul. It was just timer with temperature control. If coolant temperature was low and ambirnt air temperature was low too (not sure, 5 dgr c) heater was on for 20-30 sec.

What part is broken? Can u post a picture.

D12 and D12A engines are still on road, really good engine!
