I run one in my Detroit 12.7. There wasn't a noticeable improvement in mpg compared to a relatively new paper filter, but it's nice not having to buy new filters...
racemaxx24 and TheEnglishMan Thank this. -
Thanks DY.

There's a lot of reviews out there on these and all I'm saying is I'll stick to paper air filters.
-
just my two cents, but I have been a mechanic for 30 years...there are a whole lot of gimmick parts out there that aren't worth the material they are made of. Only thing good about a K and N filter is its clean and reuse....
-
friend had one on his cat and loved it......
last time I checked K & N didn't make one for a Volvo D12....... if they do now don't get it from K & M it will be cheaper to go to a auto parts store and order it -
The Filter is available for the Volvo VNL series truck. The filter style is not effected by the engine installed, as all the VNL filter holders are the same. The reason for asking about the the use with the d12 is that the filter can effect volvo and cummins engines differently. I once installed a FleetAir filter and my mpg tanked, lost about 1.0 - 1.5 mpg. The design of that filter just didn't work with the d12 engine.
also I discovered the K&N is not a lifetime filter. They are good for 300k, well that's what they warranty them for. So figure how many new paper filters you could buy for $239 over a 300k period. I can get the donaldson filter for $57 incl shipping. If the K&N shows real mpg gains then I would buy it.
appreciate everyone's input. -
yea ya have pictures of the filter you used ?

they don't filter as well as paper, I know that.
