I have a 2000 volvo 660. Last night when I got to my destination, I cut off my truck and lights and both tractor and trailer stop lamps stayed on. I pulled all stop lamp fuses to check and they still stayed on. After about 10-15 min, they shut off. I pushed the brake pedal a few times to make sure they still worked fine. After a few more times they stayed on again. This time it stayed on for about 20min. I also noticed that the brake pedal doesn't click anymore when this happens so I'm thinking it is something to do with the brake pedal and an air switch of some sort. Can someone give me some advice? Thanks

The Brake Pedal Switch needs to be replaced.

Ok. I forgot to mention I just replaced the air compressor and red and yellow brake valve inside the cab before picking this load up.

If you pulled the fuse and they are still on, I would bet you have a short somewhere.

They're only about 35.00 for the switch. Easy fix.

OK thanks for all the input. I replaced the brake pedal switch myself for 30 bucks. Will advise if it happens again.

Next time they stay on go at the brake pedal find the brake switch and disconnect the connector, if the lights go out then all you have to do replace that switch, if they stay on then you have a short somewhere.

if you have a multimeter you can check if the switch you pulled out is bad. This way you'll know for sure if the switch is defected.

Perhaps your brake relay, gets stock.
