I have a 2006 780 with electronic temp control. Just set the temp and its suppose to control the temp in the cab to that setting. DON'T work, sometimes its either cold or hot nothing in between. Replaced the controller assy, changed the sensor in the dash, compreeor, dryer and still same results going on 6 years with this problem, Any suggestions?

Have you looked at the blend door inside the heat-AC box?
It opens and closes to regulate temp.

I had the same problem on a truck and it was a small electric motor that operated the door.

yes, all the doors work fine, i plan to change the electrical solenoid and temp sensor by the fan next. On my last trip it was cold and needed heat, could only get a little warm air, i moved the temp controler several times from hot to cold and left it on hot and got hot air, I know the controler is good so maybe its the valve that regulates the amount of antifreze that goes to the heaters core, the reverse could be happing when in the AC mode.

I have been told that the climate control, see the 8 digit part number on your old one, has to match the vehicle. Find your old one and see if the part number is the same or changed to a different one. Is it what you have now..

Is your ambient (outside in the cluster) temperature sensor work with a normal value ?
Because the ambient temperature sensor is connected to the cluster but that information is share with others module via Data Link and can affect your climate unit operation.

Ben, where is the ambient temp sensor located?

I've had a little hvac trouble and have noticed that at times the temp readout can be a little erratic.

Over the winter, the system wouldn't allow the AC compressor to turn on for defrost..

The ambient temp sensor is behind the front grill,
Note: Cummins engine and Volvo engine don't have the same part number for the sensor but it's located at the same place.
