Waste of time and money to just replace the sleeves without putting new rings on. And no reason to place new rings on old pistons. Get a complete O/haul kit, a mechanic who knows Cummins, and swap the heads out too.
Throwing $$$ away doing it the way you want to.

Most of the isx engine catastrophic failures are due to piston failure. I have seen many come apart, when they do it usually takes out the block head and crankshaft. I would replace the pistons if that was all I did. I have reused c15 and n14 pistons a few times, usually at or near the end of the career of the truck. Would never on an isx. Do it correctly, or that will be the most expensive $1400 you ever saved.

Why would you go to all the work of pulling the sleeves and not do the pistons.. Half this post makes no sense, Your just asking to cause your self trouble down the road.

Something wrong with those numbers too. $1400 kit? $3000 to rebuild? Even if labor only........

So you have two trucks currently working, and yet don't have the 1400 needed for new pistons? Man you have some serious cash flow problems, putting another truck on the road is not going to solve these problems.

I can not stress this enough::. you need to concentrate on the two trucks you have working and figure out why they are not making any money. Until you solve that, adding another truck to the mix is choosing to go down a path that leads to another broke down truck with out the funds to fix it.

Funny how the guy asked a question about a rebuild and all the answers were telling him how to run his business. Never seen so many experts here.
