Volvo truck with Volvo engine used 9 pins diagnostic connector up to 2013 , the change to the 16 pins occur in 2013 for the 2014 production (OBD engine)
With Cummins engine it's still 9 pins even though they use OBD engine.
Ben
In Europe they used AMP 14 pin connector, but really only 4 pins were used (power supply and J1708), so it was similar to 6 pin connector and adapter for 9 pin connector was used.
In 2006 they fit two diagnsotic connectors: OBD-II and 14 pin.
Now all volvos switched to OBD-II. Only with cummins engines 9 pin is used.
There are J1708, J1939 and CAN in OBD-II connector before 2014. From 2014 they use only CAN there, so to work on new volvos u need RP1210C adapter (Nexiq USB Link 2, Deabord DPA 5, VoCom)
