Volvo VHD turning radius

    I have had a 2015 Volvo VHD axle forward semi tractor for one year. I am very unhappy with how short it turns. There is plenty of room between fender and frame for the wheel to turn tighter. I love this truck but this is a major issue with me. My dealer's service department has told me that nothing can be done. It has a 205" wheel base and can not turn within 75'. Does anyone know if there was a problem with that years steering or if it can be adjusted to turn tighter?

    Hi, when you turn the wheel to the maximum do you know if your knuckles reach the stopper on the axle beam ?
    What kind of steering gear do you have ? TRW (Ross) or ZF ?

    Yes. The knuckles hit the stops. I do not know what brand my steering gear is. The tire has about 8" of clearance to the frame and 5" of clearance to the bumper. my dealer says if we adjust the stops any more that the tire may rub the front bumper under certain conditions.
    I have a friend with a Kenworth T800 axle forward and it turns much shorter than this Volvo.

    I cannot tell you to do, but if you decide to adjust the axle stop more deeper remember your steering gear have probabbly internal automatic self adjusting poppet (to reduce the hydraulic pressure before the knuckle touch the stopper) then after stopper adjustement you will have to lift the front axle off the ground (only for the first time) and turn the steering to the stopper reach the stopper on both side.
    You have to make sure the LH tire never rub the drag link when you turn to the right at the maximum.
    Check with your Serial number if your truck has been built with different front wheel offset ?

    Thank you for the advice. I am just not sure of how much to adjust it and have safe frame/bumper clearance for uneven terrain.
