Hello all,
My truck's dash doesn't read Air Suspension pressure, Exhaust Temp or Boost (or axle & trans temps..etc) like some other VN's I've seen.
Is there a way to make the dash read these things by adding the necessary sensors, etc. ....? It would be very useful to monitor, especially the air suspension pressure. I've thought about buying gauges but since the factory offers the ability to monitor them on other trucks, I figured there must be some way to make this work.
If anyone has a VN with the ability to monitor these can you please share a VIN# so I can get the parts necessary from Volvo?
Thanks for any help!!
Upgrading dash/sensors to read Boost, EGT and Air Suspension Pressure possible?

your truck HAS the Exhaust Temp or Boost sensors in it now..... not sure on the rest
RubyEagle Thanks this. -
For those gauges exhaust temp (Pyrometer) and boost pressure gauge you need a (called) Performance cluster level if your truck is not already equipped with, you will need to replace the complete cluster by a new P/N and run an update the Volvo main frame software and recalibrate the (Mid 140) cluster computer with the PTT Volvo tool.
For the rear suspension air pressure on truck that i have seen up to now the harness connector is already there on LH side inside of the cab on the back of the air passthrough also that harness is already tagged, you need to install the sensor (plug-in) on the passthrough on the correct location (passthrough is marked) then if your truck is not equipped with a I-Shift transmission you need to run a 1/4 hose from one rear air bag to the passthrough, then you need to ask to a Volvo dealer to open a case number at Volvo Tech Support to add the Rear Air Suspension gauge option in the Cluster menu and when ready recalibrate the Cluster (Mid 140) then the air pressure for the rear suspension can be read in the cluster display menu.
Note: If your truck is equipped with a I-Shift transmission the air pressure from the rear air bag is already at the passthrough for starting gear selection but you need to add a T on the line to supply the passthrough port for the rear suspension sensor.
If you decide to go foward with the project i can find the P/N for the air pressure sensor and the accurate position for the sensor install on the air passthrough.
Let me know please.

Ben, the rear air suspension pressure sounds like a good place to start.
On the back of my passthrough, there are two unused sensor plugs there. The labeling on them was printed on a white tag and pretty much worn off.
Is there a way to determine which sensor plug does what?
My truck doesn't have the pyrometer sensor in the exhaust , so I'm thinking I don't have the performance cluster.
Thanks again!! -
About the pyrometer if your truck is a 2008 it should be equipped with a DPF, then we call a US 07 Emission engine, there is no dedicate sensor for the pyrometer, the DPF temperature sensor no 3 is use for the Pyrometer, the pyrometer and the boost pressure cannot be read in the cluster display they have their own gauge in the cluster if you have the option.
About the electric plug for the rear air suspension sensor (3 wires plug) if you can read the numbers and letters on each wire we can figure out which one is the good one.
BenRubyEagle Thanks this. -
Ok ben, I'll check the numbers on the plugs. It might be a few days before I can get to that.
Mine is just a EGR motor, no DPF. Guess it was a mid 07 build as a 08 or something....IDK. -
Can these be added to an 05 model? Thanks!
-
Yes,I think so, but on a 2005 truck if the truck is not already equipped with the option i don't know if the wires are already there, if you want give me the last 6 digit of your truck serial number and i'll have a look for the build date and the wiring diagram.

Great thank you sir.
