Going down the 401 at about 2 am I noticed the fuel gauge going up. So I stopped at the London Flying J and checked coolent, normal, no oil in fuel, normal. So I carried on. 20 minutes later waiting for a tow truck. Passenger side tank had empty into the drivers tank. Because, the vent on the passenger side was plugged and the drivers side pickup pipe was blocked. So the return line went into the tank was vented. $466 for tow and 244 for the London dealer to clear the lines and install a new vent in the passenger tank. Another problem solved.
Funny thing happened on the way to Mi - ran out of fuel with plenty of fuel!

Ouch that is rather expensive. Even though I don't own a Volvo that is good to know.

It's not just a volvo thing. Some trucks have a t-line on the suction side that draws off both tanks at the same time in theory. Some trucks draw off one tank and return to the other with a line between the 2. So when it draws off one it sucks fuel over from the other. In either case a line can get clogged and suck a tank dry.
