Just so you know, yes you do sign a form about the cell phone policy. It is not a complete crack down as of yet. If you have an accident and you were on the phone, then yes it is automatic termination. You can carry your phone of the property, they ask that you not be on the phone when you are talking with your coordinator. It is disrespectful to do that. Wal~mart is a safety oriented company. They want us to do our job and do it safely everyday. If things such as cell phones become that much of a problem, then yes they will ban them. For the most part, they want us to be happy with what we do.

chewey get your facts in line before posting nonsense, we are allowed to have cell phones ,laptops, i pads or whatever you choose. I am on my laptop right now in my truck on my break. The new cell phone policy they wanted to roll out has been ditched not going to happen.

The only things that will get you fired related to a cell phone is, have a accident while talking on it and your charged with the accident, talking without a hands free device while driving or moving on walmart property. Or cursing and being disrespectful in or around your coworkers in the drivers room.

there are no random audits thats bs......those are the facts.............feel free to call walmart safety and ask for yourself.....

WalMart is a ratty company for the most part, but the trucking part of the company is truly the cream of the crop as far as drivers go. I am a little predjudice but my son drives for them. He has two million accident free miles. When he started he had a little over a million, so they don't hire unless you have the experience, so for the ones that have not heard from them yet, don't fret over it, just get the experience in and when you do get on with them, you do have a home for life. I personally like the union, but as far as the nonunion segment of trucking, this it as good as it gets. Good luck to you all and God bless.

WOW grabber...dont bust a gut there ole boy...reread my posts...slooooowwwlly:) I am writing this on my laptop in the truck now:) The issue we are discussing is a FUTURE policy....hasn't happened yet you know. Ask your div safety officer...all electronic devices would have to be registered with safety. The laptop you are using might have an air card. The sim of this device works in a phone and could be used to make "secret" calls that would need to be revealed for accidents and such. I am sure you would never do such a thing but safety doesn't know you as well as we do.
Of the 28 drivers fired so far for violating phone policy, several have been fired for being on the phone too much even though they were not on the phone while having the accident.
As to why the policy did not go into effect this month, safety only says that it is being refined...whatever that means:biggrin_25512: If it happens to be canceled...happy, happy, happy:) If not grin and swallow:biggrin_2551: Have a happy 4th all...stay safe...have fun...dont swallow any watermelon seeds(I better not go there)

That was your direct response to the question asked a page back. How can a driver be fired for being on the phone to much when they have no access to your records. Never heard of such nonsense.

My son drives for WalMart and he gets the whole weekend off unless they have an extension and most of the time they don't. In other words, it's Friday night until Monday morning, not any "truckers weekend" of 36 hours and gone again. It is regional work, so he is in the truck from Monday thru Thursday but when he is done Friday he is leaving out of his DC and headed for home till he leaves his house Monday morning.

wal mart may be the cream of the crop job for a driver but they sure use ur background against u not to hire u. my friend who is a felon has been applying for the past 4 yrs & has yet to be called for an interview or anything & he's been otr for 21 yrs. his past is his past but yet no company wants to over look it & look forward to the future. sad
