everyone has been telling me to apply for walmart
ive been driving for 13 years, no tickets, accidents, or DUI's
worked for covenant trans (i know i know), then i drove concrete mixer
i now work for martin-brower(deliver to mcdonalds) where ive been for the past 5 years
the nearest DC is about 150 miles away, i own a home, have a family and before i commit to this i need to know a few specifics

if/when i get hired, i know ill be extra board with slip seating for at least a year
so day one i work, then come back to the DC then....do i go home? have to find like a hotel or room for rent? if im on the 5 on 2 off thing, i cant really drive home every day lol, so hows that work. i know they dont let u drive the truck home, not worried about that. but where will i sleep when im done for the day?

does walmart pay once a week? bi monthly? what?
when do the benefits kick in?
how long do u work there before u are assigned a truck that nobody else drives? this is the biggest problem i have with my current company(slip seating). we have some real lazy, nasty ppl that dont clean jack in these things, let alone write up things like tire tread and brake pads. i know walmart has a higher standard, so its probably not that big of a problem, but im tired of driving a different truck everyday. i feel its better to learn and know one truck, not 50. i dont care about working weekends or holidays, ill be starting at the bottom so ill know ill work the days and shifts the higher guys already paid their dues on. ill get up there eventually.

and please confirm that walmart DC's have their own shops for maint on the equipment. inhouse mechanics are always better.
ill probably have more specific questions later, but for now this will start it.

thx in advance for all the info

Sorry to hear m-b went down the drain. I worked for them in the late 80's in Enfield,Ct. I've been with walmart for 13 yr's. If you get hired, You'll be on the extra board. Each dc is different about working extra's. @ mine th extra's work steadily, but they do slip seat. Truck maintenance is 2nd to none. Gm dc's have in house shop's, some grocery dc's have contrator run shop's.
