Raymond is not a 'dedicated' carrier DC in that they do not have a dedicated contract with a specific carrier. They, as all DC's, will USE outside carriers and call them 'dedicated' (as a blanket term). As far as I know, only the grocery DC's have an actual contract with a carrier, such as Swift, who has a contract to haul grocery out of Johnstown NY and Pottsville PA, in order to meet the demand of the grocery deliveries which are on a very tight, stringent delivery schedule. They contract a carrier to supplement the Walmart fleet so they ALWAYS have enough drivers and trucks available to meet the deliveries.
drozzer69, postmandav and Buzzard2157 Thank this. -
I know the DC in Lewiston Maine contracts with Prime. I was just wondering if other DC's use other carriers as well.

All of the Grocery Dcs have an outside company contracted to them. Here in Texas we have Usxpress and Swift. As Jim said they run all the frozen and produce loads and some dry.

In Raymond, the closest thing we have to a dedicated carrier is Travelle bulk carriers. Pat & his boy's have been there for year's but, they only come in when volume demand's it. Their all owner operator's btw, no company driver's. When the big carrier's are used it's Bentonvilles call.

Lewiston is a grocery dc thats why, Raymond actually calls in owner operators local to the area to help with their excess work.
