Need some advice on an accident that I was involved in over 3 yrs. ago. and weather or not I should apply? I was on the Pa. turnpike with a car in front of me and plenty of space between us. Another car passed us and cut over in our lane and completely stopped .The car in front of me got off the exit and I didn't have anywhere to go and slowed down a lot but ended up hitting him.He told me and the cop that his coffee spilled and that he panicked braked and stated that the accident was his fault. It is written in the report that he admitted it also. I didn't receive a ticket nor is it on my psp report. I'm in the process of checking my dac report but haven't received it yet. The accident is on my driving record but all incidents go on there regardless if it's the driver's fault or not. I have been driving for 24 years with about 2.2 million miles and this is the only thing on my driving record.I really wanted to apply to Walmart but kinda think i'm doomed.Any advice from any Walmart drivers would be greatly appreciated....Thanks in advance

Wait until you're absolutely sure what's on your DAC. If it says a rear end accident, hold off on applying. Only because that gets anyone's attention real quick, especially one that people want to drive at. If it's not, I would apply in a second. Good luck to you and let us know how it turns out!

Application ask's you to list accidents in the past 3 years, so you CAN put "None" in there...but they will see it anyway. It would be in your best interest to find out who is reviewing you application (or call Safety directly), for a chance to explain that entry on your MVR. Tell them the story, and fax them (or scan and send in email) a copy of the accident report.

Don't sit back and let them make a decision without an explanation---they WILL pass you over (probably even without asking about it). You have to 'fight' for this job.

Wait for your DAC just make sure. Then apply. If its not on, then put none. They only need the past three years and since it was over that your still good. Don't leave any blanks on the online form. If you have any other questions you can PM me or check out my thread "Walmart here I come!"

They might only need the past 3 years but it seems everyone forgets that most hiring decisions are based on all past HISTORY that they have access to.

Thanks guys for all the info. It is greatly appreciated...Walmarts minimum qualification is "no preventable dot recordable accidents in last 10 years".I just don't don't know if it is a dot recordable accident.I guess if it was it will be on my dac report.

A DOT recordable accident would be on your PSP report. If no vehicles involved were towed from the scene, no one was treated for injuries at the scene, and/or no fatalities, then it is not a DOT recordable accident. The PSP report lists the most recent 5 years of crash data and 3 years of roadside inspection data.

That's what I thought Tom0fTx. They did tow the car but the accident is not on the psp report that I received. I'm figuring since the guy admitted fault that it didn't show up. I think the big thing is going to be if it is on my dac report. If it is not I might be ok.....I sure hope so, I really want to apply!!

Worse case scenario, even if it were a DOT recordable accident, it would only be an issue if it was considered preventable. Since it is not showing on your PSP report (if occurred within the last 5 years), it would not show up on any DAC file as DOT recordable accident either. If you have documentation from the accident that exonerates you, I would go ahead and apply for a position with the Walmart Private Fleet now.
