I hope you get that call you want. My husband had two great face to face interviews last year in NC. They really liked him and he they. But....they hired another guy who had just a wee bit more experience than he did. It was a shocker to say the least but life goes on......I hope you get the call!!

Thanks, now you made me a bit nervous. We did have a great interview, but ya never know. Maybe it was just lip service and they had someone in mind all a long, or a friend/family member of a worker there already. Ya just never know, but I am a bit nervous now.

Waste Management is pretty much a numbers company in the strictest sense, they hire from almost an actuarial process.
In other words, show more exp on paper, regardless of real ability or attitude, guess what, wallah you are at the top of heap. Then when you get to that at the jobsite interview, there is something wont recognize(you hope you have the savvy to) until after they've hired the other person, guess what that is,come even close and just maybe you can actually get through the whole process, guaranteed to atleast get another look. I know one District Manager now and knew another previous,no difference in what the reality is for hiring, have to guess fairly close for me to say,and no pouting,or else have to figure it all out by your lonesome

PS:Something else might want to realize on requirements and challenges within this company, but that can hold for now, but in reality this info is more important than all the other claptrap previous, go figure, like said no pouting, this is something can find out on own if really want the facts

    Reply to "wastetrucks" 6/21/2012:

Just recently, Indiana became the 23rd. state to become a "right to work" state. What this means is that any company that is represented by a labor union cannot force an employee to join a labor, as a condition for keeping his or her job. The remaining 27 states are "union shop" states. That is, any company that is represented by a labor union, can require any and all hourly wage employees represented by the union to join after 30 days on the job, as a condition for keeping that job.

There have been past movements in the country to have a federal "right to work" law passed. Currently, it is up to the individual states.

This isn't directly aimed at WM, but certainly applies to them. What do companies that have a long lead time from filling out an application to actually hiring, realistically expect an applicant to do? I mean the bills aren't going to stop, so for most it means taking the 1st sure thing that comes up even though you would like to hold out for something better. They have to expect this to happen and then when you get the call do you just dump the interim job with no notice? What does that say about your character? But it seems as if that behavior is virtually a requirement. My second rant is companies with statements like: "it is our policy to not contact applicants that have not been selected for the next step in the hiring process" Well thank you very much, is it really that hard to send a generic "we're sorry" email? I see WM at least has the courtesy to do this.
