Some companies were paying walking floors $152 an hour, and that was through a broker.I think they still base the trips per hour but average out the loads by the hour.We had a tri axle dump truck down there making $105 an hour, but the main contractor flooded the work with his own trucks.I know there were long wait times to load because of the amount of trucks,no one cared by the hour, but by the load it might be a problem. One other thing is PA Dot inspectors hate trash trucks and they will bust your balls because they can.PA hates the trash coming in from out of state but can't stop it because it's interstate commerce and federally regulated ,so they go after the trash trucks and hammer them with tickets. They will set up right in front of the land fill and grab trucks going in and out,and set up along the routes on the way to the landfill. If you never hauled trash into PA you will encounter a whole new world when it comes to DOT inspections and constantly being checked and inspected. Some of the DOT cops wear "Trash Task Force" jackets and they have special events they call "trash net" when they really go after trash trucks day and night.DEP also works with DOT inspecting trash trucks and there tickets for a leaking load (most walking floors leak a little bit between the slats in the floor hauling trash) start at $1000 .Another factor even making it worse right now regarding PA DOT and trash trucks is that PA hired a bunch more DOT inspectors to go after the trucks involved in the gas drilling industry and they were busy for a few years, but the gas drilling in PA has slowed a lot with the low natural gas prices and they have to keep those DOT cops busy ,so they are out constantly now inspecting trash trucks. They could care less about an emergency situation due to hurricane Sandy,or FEMA,they'll tell you to "tell the judge" after they hand you the tickets.
