Waste Management, WM hard to get into?
I have 15 years CDL B driving experience in a box truck that is similar to what they drive. It is not a waste truck but it is the same size and it is similar in other ways. I have applied to several jobs and have had only one "phone interview" and that was a long, long time ago. I applied to jobs since with no "phone interview". I have applied to "commercial" jobs which I was told guys that already work there take and guys outside rarely get, but i have applied for "residential" jobs which I was told is where most guys start because its the tougher of the jobs, which is just A-OK with me. I don't mind hard work, I love hard work if you get a good wage, and WM around here is a good wage. So why is it so difficult to get in there? Or is it just me? I have not one ticket in my history of driving, no DUI's, no accidents and I took OSHA safety training because employers like safety, WM LOVES safety. Thanks for any help.

I think it's more who you know? I use to haul into a WM landfill. I didn't much care for the boss there. He was always yelling at someone. You could tell when he was mad, his whole face got beat red. He was a preacher too, lol. One day he jumped on me while I was getting ready to dump. I forget it was something stupid, but I raised my bed and stretched the garbage out like I was spreading gravel, lol. He was so mad he went and got his seagull rifle. I got the hell out of there.

When I quit my job he offered me a job. I turned him down. I was set on going back OTR and I couldn't work for a hot head.
Try hanging out where the drivers take lunch and get to know one of them. Then they'll refer you when an opening comes.

That is sad, I'm sorry it is that way. I'm NOT making any judgements, but that is what we are trying to fight against up here. Right to work is a scam disguised as something nice and sweet and innocent for the employees. It does nothing but lower wages to unlivable.

I had worked with Waste Services in FL years ago and got out of it. Now I'm trying to get back, so I applied with Waste Management in Clw and was told not enough experience. Thats after 2 years with WSI. I'm getting tired of filling out apps.
