Well, WS is my #1 pick at this time. I went over and talked to Tim a few weeks ago and I had a good feel for the place. The terminal is only 5 miles from my house so that helps as well. If all goes as planned I'll have my CDL on April, 22 and could start the "10 day interview" on Monday April 25th. Or I may wait a week so I can get everything in order before I go.
I have accused the WS drivers on this thread of writing for bonuses in the past. This has to be the most positive group on these forms. They must be doing something right to keep everyone as happy as they seem.
Thanks for all the great posts and information, this site has been invaluable for making my career move!

Does anyone know if I will need a TWIC card at W/S? It costs $132.00 and I would not like to spend that kind of money right now if I won't need it I have 3 weeks left in school and should be off to orientation in Missoula soon after.

I've even been to places where you really should have had one(Baltimore Marine Terminal for one) and didn't need it, they just made me fill out a piece of paper(name, license number, name of company and DOB) and wallah, instant access!

heres a question about a weird RUMOR. key word because thats all it is, no reliable sources involved...that ws wants to get rid of the volvos because they are too expensive to repair? just wondering if anyone else has heard this.

Kinda hoping they won't. Haven't even gotten to drive one yet and I'm already saying that.

i havent heard that but if they are thinking that...i say it nice to see they are useing there heads, not just buying a bunch a cheap crappy volvos.
Volvos are European trucks, so EVERY single piece is "special ordered" just like on a International. And they are not mechanic freindly either.

Have driven both, enjoy the Volvo much more, even though it has less room than the 'shaker....
But doesn't mean anything to me anymore as I've moved on to other things than driving....just opening my big mouth

the volvo trucks we have over here are very american. the trucks they sell over in europe are completely different machines, they are not importing parts because they dont even have these across the pond. thats not to say they arent still expensive and overly complicated. volvo is owned by ford.
throw me one of those cascadias with the quiet apu and i might be happy, but i love my volvo. not to be a whiner aka trucker but they spoiled me by starting out with a nice truck.
and we fly past the failiners up the hills
im still betting its a made up rumor, i can see maybe not buying any more volvos, but might as well use them up. theres still the fuel mileage and whatnot. i talked to another driver who said he got 9.5 mpg so i guess walstib isnt a liar aka trucker
