Reading about W.S. for awhile. Sounds good.
Wondering what percent of your Van is Drop and hook? What percentage of your runs are multi stop furniture where you have to unload stuff by hand, or other handstacking involved as a percentage of your runs.
Thanks

For me its been about 70% drop and hook, about 30% of all my loads are furniture loads that I have to unload. I'd say the same 30% for multi stop loads.
-
Thank you sir that helps. I guess a plus is the unloading has got to help keep a driver in shape wrestling
furniture? Can't hurt, when you say unload, are talking every single piece off a 48-53 foot trailer? -
For example, the trip I'm currently on started in North Carolina and ends in Salt lake. It has 4 stops in Nebraska, 1st stop I unloaded 2 pieces, 2nd was 20 pcs, 3rd 35 pieces and 4th was only 4 pieces. The rest, about half a trailer full is going to a Watkins Shepard terminal which we do not unld.
All trips are different, you might just get 1 drop where you have to unld 50 sofas. Its not that bad, all you have to do is push em to the edge of the trailer and have the reciever unld them. -
I know in Conover you get a handcart (dolly) which helps in moving the funiture the the tail. Unloading sounds harder then it is. Even when I used to run full loads of La z boy the DC had at least 2 or more people to help unload. A full trailer has between 90 to 130 pieces of furniture.

ok, thanks for the heads up.

You want to ask for those multi stop runs. They pay better and if you're new to driving will develop the real skills faster than drop and hooking.
Nightwind8830, MontanaLongbow and WA_Slim Thank this. -

FRG answered it best, multi stops are awesome, keeps u active. Who just wants to hold a steering wheel? Lol

I ran for WS and I have to say that this depends heavily on your home terminal and how long you want to be out for a.k.a. what terminals/lanes you are running.
I asked for these runs and was making more $$$ from stops than I was from miles.
IIRC most of the multi-stop furniture loads are out of Conover, NC and Sayreville, NJ terminals.
