I live in Michigan and I had a medical Marijuana card to legally smoke marijuana. While my application was pending I got pulled over and they smelled it on my clothing (did NOT smoke and drive but my coat smelled of it) I got a misdemenor charge of possession of Marijuana... That was 3 years ago, I have since completely quit and I mean 100% quit after that and have now got my CDL-A and drive for a local company paid by the hour... My questions is will W&S hire me with this past drug offense? I have a friend who is just got his CDL-A and we want to be a team but I am afraid that I will have troubles with this.. Will I? does anyone know if I will have issues? please help me I would really appreciate it! And please I am not here to get lambasted with negativity as at the time I had though that I was legal before my card had came in the mail, because now just paperwork copies will work the same as a card but not when I had got ticketed. My lawyer says he can get it expunged but if I do not have to pay to get that done I would like to know. I never ver partake in marijuana or any other drug and was using it only for an accident I was in with which I was a passenger in a car that was hit by a Police officer that was driving without sirens, head lights, top lights so ZERO lights whatsoever. they hit us going 75 with no lights on and my friend almost died and I had 4 shoulder surgeries which are completely healed. I just really need to know if I can get a job with this company with my team mate or not and what there policy is since i cannot find it on there site, Thanks in advance!

I don't think they take misdemeanors too kindly at watkins and shepard. I have a 3 year old misdemeanor that isn't drug or alcohol related, and the recruiter basically hung up on me. drug convictions mean you are very well screwed in this field. the fact that you got a LOCAL job is really good. why don't you just stick with them? so many people value that home time..

If your lawyer can get it expunged, then do it.
If not, there may be a few carriers that will hire you and your friend as team drivers.
Be prepared to explain the drug charge along with showing the medical card you no longer use.

Dont bother there is a 100% zero tolerance for drugs at watkins and i dont think they care at all how old it is or the circumstances, theres enough people signing up, they wont even look at you. sorry .

ps ive been with watkins 10 years so i know for sure they dont budge on this.

Check with Werner. They don't mention drug violations in their qualifications. But I know they have some requirements in that. Best thing to do is stay away from that stuff man. Because they will drug test you at anytime. Don't do it mainly for your health. If you fail a drug test, you'll be kicked straight to the curb in this industry.
