W&S does seems as a low pay but it's not ONLY how much a company pays per mile. There is more into that. I am not even close to call myself a driver since I am in Missoula on orientation.
They will bump your c.p.m. after 3 months (as I heard from others) and give you quite nice miles for a rookie. Few senior drivers I meet claim they got around around 2.500+miles a week which is really good. You certanly don't want to work for a company which pays .33 but gives you around 1.000 miles. To make things a bit more complicated, you do not want to work for company which pays HHG miles (usually 5-10% less that actually is). W&S pays odometer miles. Does not matter if you get lost, miss your turn or whatever. A lot of other companies ##### about that (wasting fuel) but not W&S.
Please check American Trucker on Y-tube, he explained it a bit more on that subject (and better).
LuvToTruck is right, they have 2 cars there so you can go for a lunch anywhere if you want to or just run for Wallmart, they do not care as long you tell them you're using it. I am not sure but I think that you do not even need to refuel it.
Monday you'll get $100 and another $ on Friday.
I like the way drivers kitchen (lounge) looks like. Everything is nice in my opinion. Instructors (trainers) are really informative. If I fail my orientation - it's because I suck, not because of them
Instructors actually support practicing with trucks on your own. As long you're on their lot - practice parking, shifting or whatever as much as you want, but do not go on the street. I do it after classes on daily basis, why not? Practice makes perfect, right?
Just be careful, because a group before mine, 5 guys out of 11 got sent home. They thought this was a piece of cake. Make sure you understand that it's like "10 days of evaluation of yourself" if I can say it that way...
If you get hired, most likely that you will not get a truck and drive it home. You'll get assigned and they YOU will decide when can you start - that part I have no idea how it works just heard from a group before me that they start in few days (5-6 days usually)
I almost forgot the most important thing: Make sure you watch all the videos they will tell you. You do not want to make same mistake as I did and watch'em all for the weekend. No, I spent 6-7 hours watching safe driving videos ... Yeah, it was a lot of fun, you can imagine... Almost all of their tests goes with the videos so you gotta watch'em.
I'll pass more info (if you want to) in a next few days as my orientation goes.
Good luck dude.
Please pardon my bad English.
Got my pre-hire

Thanks -
$100 per month

$100 a month, up to $4800 (or whatever your school cost... They'll want documentation.)

Thanks for the replies, thats on par with other companies. -
Yeah, Mr. Jay and Ddewsbury are right. I almost forgot: If you do not drive stupid and not all the way to guvernor limit, you'll get a fuel bonus + safe driver bonus. I know that is quite low pay and does not sounds motivating but I've noticed on safe fuel drivers list (public listing) top drivers get few hundred dollars on top of their paycheck. My point: Which company will give you bonus for just doing your job? W&S does ...
-
I normally get 300+ a month for bonus.

Finishing up orientation this week. Got just about everything done. Hats off to Kelby, Jim and Randy. These guys taught me more in a couple of day with pay, than
my $4800 CDL 4 week school. I am very impressed with company and look forward to doing good for them for years to come. Any questions, PM me.
duaneMr. Jay, californiatruckgirl and bchawkins7 Thank this. -
