We had a good experience at W/S. Not all of it, but a good portion of it. Pay was low for teams, but we got a 2015 volvo. miles were great while we were OTR, but once we took a dedicated miles went down and would alternate between 4000 and 6500/week. What I figured out was the way the loads were running from Washington and then the downtime while waiting on the terminal at Dalton. However, I got to voice my opinion and ways to make it run smoother and it was starting to smooth out before we left. The things I liked about W/S was I didn't find anyone threatening like I read about from other companies on this forum. Like with all companies you have some airheads. The office in Dalton, I don't even know what they actually do, besides gossip and fingernails and look down at you(if you let them)when you went inside to use the facilities. The mechanics at Dalton are the best. Great guys, helpful and treat you like a person and not an object. The downside was fixin trailers before I could roll. But was getting better. Pay, well, what I choose to do a job for is between me and the employer. Why we left, greed perhaps, but other opportunities that didn't work out. Would I drive for W/S again. Most likely if I lived within the 125 miles of one of their terminals. But I would ask for a manual,(even though those Volvo's are nice). In summary, W/S not a bad company. lower pay than some, inconsistent miles, sometimes(sure other companies are the same). just my opinion. Now bring on the hate mail...

seems like the northwest terminals are better organized than the southeast.

None of that info is true. A lot has changed since 2014. Any questions let me know. I drive for Watkins now and love it.

Still operate as Watkins Shepard. And as it looks now it seems the plan is to stay that way. As far as policies go they use Schneiders pet policy now but grandfathered in anyone at Watkins that already had a pet. We use their 401k now. We use their breakdown folks which ain't all that bad. The Watkins way was a little faster but the driver had all the control over it. Schneiders guys seem to be a little slower the time or 2 I've had to use it. And they are using Schneiders on call after hrs dispatch which I have never had to use after hrs dispatch in over a year so doesn't have any affect on me.
Other than that everything else is still Watkins Shepard. They just purchased a bunch of brand new trailers, all with big Watkins logos on them. Our trucks still run 65. Our dispatchers still dispatch us. Only thing is we seem to have more loads now, which is good that gets us home weekly guys home quicker. Lol
Any other questions let me know

No match for Watkins drivers yet. But they say it is coming. Just talked to benefits about it on Wednesday.

@Driver91 how do you still like running for WS? It looks like I might join you in a week or so. What trucks are you guys currently running? Autos? Or can I still get a manual? It looks like I'll be running out of Kearny. What typical freight do you pull?
