Gloves , Gloves & More Gloves , ones for fueling and ones for basic outdoor use is advised .. A hoody , long johns and 2 pairs of boots... you can go w/ less but I had to learn the hard way to have more then 2 pairs of gloves when I was finished putting on the chains... and yes in Montana, ND I've had to fuel in -36 / -47 with the wind chill just this past winter... Be safe, take it easy out there and let us know how it goes.

On my second & final week of orientation. So far, so good. This week will be more city driving & our hill run should be Tuesday, or Wednesday at this latest. It's been busy every day with class, practice, homework, & my own practice after hours. Hill decent is my biggest worry right now as I sometimes have issues getting my downshifts in sync. Despite most likely getting an automatic, it's something we're still required to know how to do (far from a bad idea IMO).

You'll be fine just don't ride the brakes, keep your distance from traffic in front of you and be sure your in the right gear before you descend.

Part of the orientation decent drive is downshifting while going down. It's something they need you to learn before passing here.
OONewbie Thanks this. -
