Well if I'm going to get back in a big truck it looks like it will be a Werner truck. Got a pre hire today. They said I can run the western region at a sliding scale of .27 - .49 per mile. I will need to go out with a trainer for 70 to 100 hours. They say I' ll get home every two weeks. Does anyone run this area ? Should I beleave any of this ? I'm working now and making about twice what I'll be making at Werner while training. My company is folding quickly and my last pay check almost bounced. I have also been without ins. for the past 6 months or so ( not good if you ride a motorcycle daily ). I will get payed tomorrow if it bounces I will not be in on Monday and will be on my way to orientation asap.

Well I am going with werner also I leave tomorrow for orientation in Fontana, California and I too will be doing the western regional but i've never heard of that pay doing that run i heard like .21-.26 or so but dont quote me on that i heard it's low but with all the bonuses you can get it actually jumps up my orientation is on monday so i will let you know
-
Congrats to both on the hire, I'll be interested in what you think of Werner.

I got my C.D.L. last March, but I have not driven at all since then. Will Werner hire somebody that has had a C.D.L. for 7 months without any driving experience whatsoever?

will they hire a cdl holder with 4 years just off the road

But in your case you have experience. I don't have any. -
Well my paycheck cleared, so I will be back on the job Monday. I really don't want to quit my job for the unknown, but the company is going to go under I just don't know when. My take home was $ 1,300 for the last 2 weeks and I'm having a hard time paying my bills. What is going to happen when I'm grossing $400 a week during training ? I'm also going through a divorce and need to sell my home. I'd feel better signing on to Werner after all this passes. Kenworthw900 please let me know how orientation works out. As far as that pay scale I have about 10 months of exp that may be the difference.

Yea i have a werner thread on hear that i just posted on so look for that and i plan on updating that. since you have experience they might not put you with a trainer they might just throw you in your own truck but give their rucruiting department a call they will help you out a lot

They will put me with a trainer. They said I will need 70-100 hours with one. I have no problem with that. I only drove a strange looking tanker rig never a 53 footer. I can use all the help I can get. If I take this job I'm looking at it as being paid to learn a skill and get health benefits.

yea there you go. Well I leave today and orientation starts monday morning.
