It's probably because anyone in that company hasn't got over 6 months experience....work with what you got lol.

I'm a former werner driver. The company is not a good place to work. One of my problems were the planners....who taught them how to plan?

I currently work for werner. I am one of their drivers who got hurt on the job. I am still waiting to see what their doctors say. The reason i am writing this is because the 2 trainers I had one of them only had 7 months experince and the other had almost 3 years. I feel that i learned alot from both of them as i have right at 100,000 safe miles and I will be training when I am able to return to work. Its not how long you have been driving or training, its if you learn anything and if you put what you learn to use. Yes as I said I do still work for werner, but am I one of their fans? You can decide for yourself, but in my head and ideas NO I DONT THINK SO. Please if you want to know anything else just ask.

    Thanks,
    Gizmo

    Hey everybody,

If you have perfect health and don't take any prescription meds, and you like being treated like a 2 year old with electronic logs, give them a shot. I had plenty of miles while I worked there. I was lucky to have a great trainer that did NOT drive on my hours and driving with him I got 60,000 miles of driving in in 55 days. That was just what I drove, not including his miles. He was a hell of a guy, too. When I got off his truck, things started to go to hell. I got a one year old red 379 Pete that was in great shape and very clean. I thought life was great.

Then I started getting called into offices at terminals. Once in L.A., once in Omaha, and then the final time in Wisconsin. Every time, I found that they had dug deeper and deeper into my medical history. (something I guess I signed over permission to do in the gestapo, super-speed "training session") Every time, I was put on speakerphone with a rather nasty guy who talked to me like I was a 2 year old, and grilled me about my meds, hospitalization, etc. I had a mental breakdown a couple years ago and they put me on some antidepressants and a mood stabilizer. Before I even signed up for CDL school, I made sure that the meds were not DOT-excluded. They aren't. Even so, after the third time I was called into the office, and keep in mind I had not had an accident, no calls to safety number, they told me I had to "go home and sort thing out". I wasn't aware anything was wrong! They sent me home on a bus, which at least they paid for, but I was 700 miles from home and they wouldn't even allow my wife to come and pick me up so I could get my things out of my truck. It was like "you have to vacate the premises immediately". The whole thing was very suspicious. I went home and got my doc to sign some form they gave me explaining what meds I was on and why, and he explained this in detail AND gave me clean bill of health to continue working. Despite this, they said, at this time we do not feel you are capable of being a truck driver, or some politically correct sounding BS like that. They stole all of my belongings except for one small box they finally managed to ship me after a lot of nasty phone calls from me. They stole my brand new refigerator, inverter, tv, most of the clothing I own, my CB, my XM radio, and a bunch of other stuff they said "wasn't in the truck when we got to it". Very convenient.

I tried to sue them for discriminating against someone with a mental disability, because I TOLD the guy that gave me my physical at the company about my meds and stuff and he said it wasn't a problem. Apparently though, I signed that right away too. Now they ruined my DAC report, no trucking company will hire me, and I have a 6500 dollar school loan for CDL school. My life is ##**ed because of this company. I hope the white collared ######## who screwed me die from AIDS.

STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM WEINER!!!!!!!

Seems like a lot of people hate this company. I could go either way, BUT, I am 21, and outta a good CDl school, not a mill. No1 would hire me because most of the companies require you to be 23, but not Werner. 2 months after I got outta school, I got pre-hired by Werner. Left for orientation on July 12th, got done with training in a couple months. Longer then what they told me, but mostly it was my fault, because I had to go home and renew my license before it expired. ( Stupid under 21 BS) So when I got off my trainers truck, which was a super guy btw, very clean, funny, and he was making $1200 a week clean ( I seen his macro 23, pay info), three days later I was outta the terminal and started with 48 states. Ran for 3 days and went home for 5, haven't been home in over a month. When I got back, they sent me to Canada, which I didn't want, called up driver placement and got put on a midwest regional hauling reefers. So now I run reefers around midwest, getting #### pay per mile .24, but still pull in almost 800 a week. My dispatcher is great, same one I had in training and favored ( she and the trainer are good friends), doesn't let me sit long. Once I sat for 10 hours, but that was once in 2 months. Is the company the greatest? Of course not. Is it good for a 21yo rookie? Hell yea.
I am young and un experienced, but I do believe I am a good driver. I always deliver early, always think safety, and can get into a dock with 1-2 pull-ups. I've been told I might even start training in a couple weeks already. You guys hate that, but $1,200 a week for a 21yo is good efin money.

I run as a team and we went to werner on false promises. We about starved with them. But this was once they started their pony express or whatever they are callin it now. We lost our loads to them we would run for a few hundred miles and then have to swap loads with them and head back to where we just came and we were the ones sitting at the docks getting unloaded and reloaded and they kept running. We split up cause we figured we could make more running single WRONG it was no better. Again this relay operation is where they are making the money not the OTR matter of fact OTR really dont exist much there. And yes you do get the cold shoulder if you call a real person they much perfer the Qualcomm communication. When we first started we ran hard and many miles it was only after the relays started things went bad. I talk to their drivers every once in while and ask if things are any better and they say no. They do prefer drivers with no experience compared to drivers with experience reason being drivers with experience know better plus they cost more. I will say they did take care of the trucks when things happened to them but other than that I would try elsewhere if you have experience if not guess its ok for first timers to get your experience. But over all on scale on of 1 to 10 I give them a "4" and that may be generous. Good luck

Thats weird. What kinda truck you driving? you should get with your dispatcher maybe he/she can get you into a new truck.

As for my truck, I got an 05 Century got it with 240k miles. So far not one thing has gone wrong with it. Last time I went through the safety lane they found a leaking axle seal on one of the drives, but it got fixed that day.
And there's a way around the pony express. if you want the miles, take you CBTs on reefers, then call up driver placement and tell em you wanna haul reefers. I get 2300 mile runs from ohio to cali hauling reefers.
As for the whole company they're a good starter company for drivers right outta school. If you got experience, look elsewhere.

Need to check your history on the company. Werner has been in business a lot longer than 20 years, 50+. Any of the trucking companies you drive for are going to have drivers that hate and like the company. Werner is no different. When you are the 2nd largest truck-load company in the company and have 17,000+ trucks on the road, you are going to have people that do not see eye to eye.
