    Heading to Allentown orientation 6/25

    Well since TMC and Maverick denied me cause of having dreads and another one calling a previous job and them leaving a bad recommendation. I am heading out for Werner since they will take me. They said they have spot open on their family dollar account, so I will be going that route after orientation. But i have a few questions if anyone want to try to answer.

    1. How long do i have to wait to get a trainer? Will my trainer be an OTR or actually with family dollar account?

    2. People say this route is hard but it cant be as hard as working for UPS as package handler. we average about 700-100 boxes a night per truck.

    3. During training how often do you go into Canada? I in the process of renewing my passport but i do not think i will have it in time by the end of orientation.

    After orientation it can take a day to a few days depending on the available trainers passing through or in your area at the time and most trainers (company or o/o) are OTR unless you get lucky and get one that runs the same dedicated account that you are getting into.

    As for the route, Its not really any harder than any other route that you would run. The main thing is dealing with the very heavy roll offs and unloading them when you get to the stores.

    Trainers hardy ever go up into Canada due to the fact that the students usually don't have a passport and its a big hassle when it comes to the border crossings.

    sweet, I dont mind waiting a few days for a trainer as long as it not over a week. how heavy on average is the roll off? that was the only thing i concern about when they have offer me family dollar account. As far as passports, i dont have to rush to get mind at this moment, i can get it after i go solo.

    hey do Werner still allow you to pick a truck or they pick it for you?

    You get what they give you, might be OK, might be total POS, either way it is yours and you have to deal with it. It can sometimes depend on where you are at as to what you get, do not get a truck from Indianapolis, unless you are the one in 100 there it will be crap.

    Well since i leaving from allentown. i hope to get tested out there since im suppose to be doing family dollar runs. i hoping to get a peterbilt, perferably a 379 pete. If they still have them

    Starting monday i will start my training with Werner. Il ltry to keep you guys posted on how it is going and what i think of the company. I like werner cause they dont care how you exactly look and is willing to give me a shot. TMC denied me 2 days before i was suppose to leave because i have dreads...

    I just finished my two day orientation here at werner. so now i wait for a trainer. they said we might get a call tomorrow from the assign trainer. i hoping i get one by the weekend. so i can get this training done. im required 275 hrs of driving. so in simple terms, ill be driving everywhere.

    I got my call around noon from my trainer so ill be heading out of here tomorrow a lil 1200. He sound like a good guy so i hope we make it work for the next week weeks
