Hey, first time poster here. I recently graduated from a PTDI certified truck driving school, I take the state test this friday and have been given a pre-hire letter from Werner. With my last two jobs I was paid under the table, not on the books. One was a seasonal gig for 6 months and the other one I was there for over 2 years. I neglected to tell my recruiter about that and now I am wondering if this is going to disqualify me once I get down to orientation. I'm an honorably discharged veteran with good personal references and no problems with my past employers, they know I'm going into the truck driving industry and have told me I can count on them for good references.
So I guess my question is: Will Werner have problems with my work history? Will most, if not all other companies also take issue with my being paid under the table at my last jobs?
I'm just afraid that I'm going to get to orientation and then get booted... Thanks for any input.

Yes, you will probably get booted.
Better do some more applications with other companies and be accurate on the applications.
What city are you near in Michigan & maybe we can help.
Here's a few companies that hire Michigan drivers, but there's others if you're near certain cities:
Corrigan Moving Systems
Falcon Transport
Navajo (Pet policy - not sure about the other companies)
NTB Inc.Last edited: Mar 26, 2014

Hmmm, I was afraid of that.
I live in Flint, MI. Not opposed to relocating though. I'm willing to do whatever it takes to get a job with a decent company.
EDIT: I should also add that any company I work for must have a pet policy that allows an 80lbs. dog. I have family that can watch him while I train but he'd have to come with me once I got my own truck. -
Schneider
Celadon
USA Truck
Boyd Bros. Transportation
Advance Auto Parts
Watkins-Shepard (pet policy)
H.O. Wolding (pet policy)
WEL ( pet policy)
I wouldn't mention how much the pet weighs. Pick the dog up after you get your truck. Not sure about pet policy with all of them; call and ask.Lomax and newbietrucker007 Thank this. -
Thanks for the advice Chinatown. I'll look into these companies and give them a call. Also gonna call my Werner recruiter and see what she has to say. I should've let her know during the interview.

No.... You see you weren't working under the table. You were unemployed and will have to sign a letter to that effect. /wink
X-Country Thanks this. -
Celadon is a good outfit, better than most BIGS. I was with them for three years before I moved on . They do make u go to Canada but hey will pay for your passport card . They do reefers and vans . They also have a school and and brand new dorm with rooms to yourself and a huge gym with new bball court ala Prime lol.

As a werner Driver, best advice ill give. FORGET them. Move on to the other companies listed above. I Don't see a issue with your under the table as people in my orientation class did that...plus I did stuff like that and told them. But avoid werner.
