That's why ya do research before joining any ol' company..
Honestly, as far as you running tired and fatigued, no one was FORCING you.
The only thing they forced ya to do was stay out for months, earning roasted peanuts lol.

Youre called a trainee for a reaaon, you need training. Talk to some of the other larger companies abd see if they can get you with a trainer to get more experience. Be honest and explain what happend at Werner, someone will give you a break. You owned up and admitted what you did wrong, that speaks volumes about the kind of person you are. Keep your head up, we have all made mistakes like that before.

Just take your time and focus, pretend the tester isn't there. You can do it.Sounds like you had a bad trainer from the get go.So many aren't fit to train and companies don't care.If by chance you have to fet retrained,so what, its not the end of the world.

Think I met you on your way out at the Allentown bus station. Thanks for the heads up and I wish you all the luck you deserve...still here waiting.
-
How long have you been waiting?
-
I think you are right about us meeting. I can't believe you are still waiting. Maybe it wasn't because of Christmas that I waited 9 days! Hang in there. I'm sure you'll do fine once you get out there.

OP, from what you wrote, it sounded like you were rushed and became flustered. I learned long ago that if you don't keep a calm mind about you, you will end up doing something stupid (hit something, become stuck, miss a turn, etc). Recognize situations that require you to to take it slow; usually those are when you are rushed the most.
Look back at those accidents you had, in your mind, ask yourself what caused you to lose focus on the task at hand. Why did you lose focus? If put into the same situation again, how would you approach the task differently?
Another thing is you need to increase your situational awareness. Your truck is tall, it is wide and wider when turning, it is heavy, it is long. Learn to look up. When turning, look both up and down as well as left AND right. Never drive onto something that no one else has, like grass, fresh dirt, maybe even freshly laid gravel.
I guess it boils down to the Smith System. I think Werner has their version of it. Learn it, practice it, live it.
ipogsd, Funzo and bigwallmike Thank this. -
Forget the money. fancy trucks or hometime... find a place that cares about giving you quality training.
Once you learn and do fine for 6-12 months then you've proven your worth and you can reevaluate you job situation. -
You new drivers for any company need to stop reporting yourself for junk incidents. You put a scratch on a trailer skirt, so what, forget it.
One delivery I made, not Werner, never worked there, but the guy said I hit the roof over the dock and wanted $750.00 for repairs. I adamately denied hitting the roof and told them I had been warned about the low roof by another driver. I stuck to my story and won. Found out the guy was collecting the $750.00 every week from various trucking companies; the safety man found that out.
Too many new drivers ruin their careers by starting with Werner and CR England. And the trainers giving you drivers a hard time, they don't have authority to fire anyone, they're just a doofuss Werner or England figured is dumb enough to be a trainer. Tell them "You're now a trainer; you a big bossman, you're going to get rich", so they puff their chest out and strut. Years ago Werner was a great company, but time can change everything.brsims, truckinmike1984, MtnTideRooster and 3 others Thank this.
