Heading to Lakeland on Monday for orientation. If you have any info regarding the Lakeland terminal, hotel or its orientation, feel free to chime in. I'm 21, south of Tampa and just graduated from a local 9 week/1000 road mile class. Have hazmat, tanker TWIC and passport. Werner is the closest and best fleet I felt I could get into to gain some seat time at my age. Thanks, David

terminal is very very small....its in the middle of a fuel distributor truck terminal. the hotel shuttles you back and forth from the terminal to la quinta its a good distance away,You can not walk to it .
You will wait get inline then get picture taken for ID you will get a physical like you did in driving school the motorhome is outside the door.
Then you will do training/busy work while others do their physical.Then they will give you a sand wich or pizza send you to hotel comeback and do similar till your all in the system then you go meet your trainers.
I was sent to get a rental car and told to put gas in car with the other three guys they sent to texas for a trainer .I paid for the gas as the other three didnt have money .
They said they will pay me when I get there ......I got there they said itll be in my first check.
If they tell you this tell them you need a fuel card. And keep your money in your pocket.

that's how i remember it back in 2011.. i was with a trainer on the dedicated home depot account for a little over a week.. then they called me in and terminated me because the online app, and the app i did in orientation didn't match.. oh well.. they seemed like a good company though.

The hotel is nice but hopefully your stay there should be short (3 days) before you are assigned a trainer and picked up AT the hotel. just make sure you are ready to ROLL because it takes approx. 2 months to complete your required 275 hours of drive-time. At first you will be confined to the interstates and you will be prohibited from driving from (mid-nite to 6.00am) curfew for a couple of weeks, but all these go away after you become more skilled at shifting and generally maintaining total control of your tractor-trailer. what experience do you need at werner to not have to do training? just get there do orientation/road test and get a truck..?
also what are they paying cpm these days for OTR, even BAD companies are paying 36cpm these days...

not much freight going in or out of florida consistently.
no tanker division. getting hazmat was a waste of time with this company because you dont get any extra pay for it. dont tell them if you decide to get a passport, doesnt pay any extra either if you go to Canada or Mexico.
i advise not going OTR 48 states. 2400-2600 miles is about all you will typically get at .26 cpm
inquire about a budweiser dedicated run. pays $.33 a mile (.23 cpm + .10 safety bonus). good miles, 5 out, 2 days off at home. your truck would be a super single sleeper (freightliner or similar).
