depends on yout situation. call the safety department of your nearest terminal and ask them.

recruiters get paid to tell you what you want to hear.

usually if you talk to your DM or FM...they will work with you.

as far as picking your own truck...lol no. you get what they give you. when you make 1 million mile safe driver...then you can pick your own truck.

I believe your answers are on both sides of the question. I am not a trucker yet, but I have read enough on these forums (and researched prospective companies) to learn that it depends completely on the company and their respective policies. As said above, call the company you intend to work for and ask someone of authority for the truth.

Truck can normally go home with you.

As for picking your own truck not really but not impossible either. If they have a KW sitting there waiting to be assigned to a new driver and a pete next to it and they say the peterbilt is yours you could say is the kw available and if the person assigning you your truck feels like it they could give you the other 1. But it's not like they say "ok these are all the trucks available take your pick"

not anymore. they got tired of people getting into fist fights over trucks.

now fleet coordinators assign you a truck number. you go find it and check every thing out, do a massive and thorough pre-trip, fill out damage sheet.

just the way it is here now.
