Well got put on Light Duty fo my shoulder injury... which is good, cause I can work at the terminal and draw my whole drivers pay I stead of just a percentage.... things have gone really smooth with workmans comp and I havent ran I to any problems.. the only thi g that even had any sort of hiccup or snag.. was after my dr.s appointment when I went to pick up my prescriptions, the drs office didnt tell the pharmacy it was on a workmans comp claim... and, with x rays and stuff I didnt get out of the drs office till after 5, the pharmacy needed some information that I didn't have so I couldnt pick up the perscriptions till the next day.. but, they got it taken care of first thing in the morning so it really was no big deal..

They have me driving the shuttle van, which is a very interesting experience... for one, I get to meet a lot of drivers.. from new hires to old hands... met a driver who has been with werner for 18 years..

The day is full of variety.. one round I may pick up a driver and take the to their new truck, then pick up a driver who quit or got fired and drive them to the bus terminal...

I also work with and get a I side look at how some of the administration departments work.. mostly, safety, as they are the ones that run the shuttle.. which, I must say is a lot different than I thought it would be..

For one thing, the people in administration and safety treat me really well, they are very nice and respectful to me, followe by the experienced drivers.. the new drivers are the worst... not all of them.. I am just saying as a whole...

The administration staff and experienced drivers are more courteous and respectful of my time.. which is not true of a lot of the new drivers... it take as long for one new driver to put their stuff in the van and get in so I can roll as it does 5 experienced drivers... also, new drivers are the first to call and complain when the shuttle is late... even though they are the ones creating the hold ups..

Also, experienced drivers pick up on things with a few clues.. where as new drivers cant.. for example.. if a driver has been terminated and I need to take them to the bus station.. often, especially if they are upset, safety will have me take them and not have other riders ormake any stops.. well, if an experienced driver is at one of our pick up spots, I just need to roll the wi dow down and say.."I am goi g downrown I will be back to pick you up" and they get it... but new drivers not so much.. they ask if I could just drop them at walmart, mc donalds or if they can ride along... just friggin clueless...

I had one driver who was very upset.. just devistated and crying.. and a stupid newbie just couldnt get it.. why I was only picking up one passenger from the hotel... I wanted to slap to sense into him... any way, I drover her to the bust station and talked to her on the way.. let her know she still had options.. when I dropped her off at the bus station I though she felt a little better..

Later, when I was back at the terminal the safety guy came out and called me to the side to talk to me.. I guess she had called and I was a help to her..
