She mentioned about zone 2 dedicated. She said it was delivering to DG and FD through out the southeast. Does anyone have any info or experience about this job?

Lots and lots and lots of physical labor. Sweat, breathing dust and dirt inside of trailer, boxes stacked and lodged up to the roof and falling on your head. Tight parking lots to pull into and full of cars, blind side backing a lot of times. Run away from this job unless you like blood, sweat and tears and are under 29 years old!

LMAO!! From what a buddy tells me that Schneider home depot dedicated can be some tight backing in the Atlanta area. And that is where a majority of your time is spent.

Yes, i have done both jobs. Home Depot is like a walk in the park compared to DG.

I am with Werner and have been for just over a year now... I also just recently switched to the Dollar General accou t for a few reasons.....
    1. $5,000 sign on bonus
    2. Wanted more physical work than swinging doors..
    3. Annoying guy a terminal complaining and whining about the Dollar General account and saying I wouldn't be able to handle it....

So, I switched to the Dollar General account... was expecting this horrendous hard work and all.... not really that bad...
Yes, there are boxes stacked on top of the rolltainers. .. you can get them down without them falling on your head... or you can act like a baffoon and pull boxes onto your head and complain how tough you got it...

The rolltainers can get heavy... but, you are not lifting them you are rolling them... but, yes a rolltainer fully loaded with water, or bags of ice melt or bags of dog food can be heavy... you can unload some of it onto a u boat or into an emty rolltainer.... work smarter not harder... and definitely work smarter and not idiotically...

There are also things I like about the DG account... access to a restroom... yay..
Being able to pick up things for way cheaper then at the truck stops...
Always having a place to park for the night... for the early am deliveries, I would just park along the store, drop and secure the trailer, lock the back, glad hand or kingpin lock, and then get some personal drive time to go somewhere.. a truck stop, or wherever was open 24 so I had access to a bathroom or whatever...
Because there is physcal work and excersize. . I like being tone and in shape...

The driving and backing is not that bad.. I like that i get to roll along some back highways and through some small towns and not just always on an interstate. ..

    rexmanno and Cruser711 Thank this.

Haven't been doing it long have you? Just wait till summer time in the South where it gets about 110 degrees inside the trailer. And also rolltainers with bad wheels that don't roll and netting thats gets caught on other rolltainers.

No, I havent been doing it long.... however, when I first got my CDL I pulled Flatbed and enjoyed it... were there challenges and tough loads... yes... but, you deal with it and move on...
Before I got my CDL I did construction.... and I can tell you that pushing a rolltainer with a bad wheel is still a lot easier then climbing a ladder with shingles on your shoulder... or a header or I beam... and talk about hot... you roof a house in 110 degrees... the black tar paper and shingles make that roof 120 or hotter....
I also worked on a road crew laying asphalt.... so I am no stranger to taking the heat....

for rolltainers with bad netting. .. you can whine and cry. . Or just use a zip tie and get the job done...

The family dollar does unload the boxes onto roller ramps... however, they are converting to a pallet and pallet jack system.... there are some videos on YouTube. .. worth a look to give you a better idea of what it is about...

what is a horrendous job to one person
is just a normal day to another
it all depends what you want
one of our drivers thinks he is above filling the reefer tank
or climbing in the wagon to put on load locks
another driver says "show me the money"
while doing the best job for me and the company is what drives me
    it all works out
the no load lock guy is home looking for work
and me and "show me the money"
came within $1000 by years end

    BrenYoda883 Thanks this.
