Starting with Werner on Monday

I'm starting my orientation on Monday. Not real happy about all the bad things I've read on this site about the company but I have to start somewhere and put in my time. I went through a school and have my CDL already. Hoping things won't be as bad as I've read. I'll be in one of their regional divisions so I can get home as much as possible so I can see my kids. I know I'm going to miss them a whole lot while I'm on the road for that 6-8 weeks of training. I'll keep you posted on how things go.

9/23
By the way, I'm not a kid but this is a new career for me so I would appreciate any suggestions from those who have been through this before as to what I can do to avoid problems and anything I should take with me for the training period that they don't put on the list of recommended supplies. Thanks.

Transport America, I have my CDL but no experience like you, so just have to do the 1wk orientation with them. Think its going to work out great for me, just what I needed to get me going, then its upto 4 wks out with a trainer if I make it thru the first week in scottsburg, IN. Sure that will be the most difficult part, living with a complete stranger for that long. Hopefully he is a positive person like myself, and we can make it go by quick for both of us.

Both Swift and Transport America are better companies than Werner, don't get trapped here. I made the mistake.

So...BigDD, did you go to a CDL training school? Such as the one in my screen name??? Just curious. A guy there was starting with them about the same time. Name Dave??
