Sorry to hear about you leaving busyvixen. I have been here 90 days now and have no complaints so far. They offered to put me on john deere light heavy haul with a .03 cent raise which I happily took lol. So all in all its been good so far. As far as home time they've gotten me home on a reguler basis. I hav come to the conclusion it is who you get for a dm.

That really good for you Okie, and I'm happy for you. Everybody's experience is different and hopefully yours will continue to be good. Shannon is great from what I heard so you'd be lucky to get her, she'll treat you good.

Hey guys, sorry for long awaited update. Life has been crazy these last couple of months. To sum things up, I'd put in my due time back in September and qualified for another flatbed company called BTC. Keep in mind that I'd had my eye on them from the very beginning and needed to build up my experience profile. So, in September I qualified and was ready to transition. Did what I was supposed to due as a good employee and gave my dispatcher a full three week notice of my departure. Until then I really hadn't experienced home time problems except for a few times in the past and just really considered it a cost of business, after all I stayed out four weeks at a time and only requested one weekend home out of the month. Needless to say, I could not get home to terminate my employment. When they finally did get me home BTC was having issues on their end and couldn't start me on the agreed upon date. So, out of a job and needing money, I went back to Western had no problems getting reissued a truck, which was actually better because now I had gone from e-logs to paper. Needless to say, that was awesome. Doing the right thing I was again notified my dispatcher that I had to go home early to due to court three weeks in advance. Once again, I did not make it home on time. At this point I got fed up and quit. I turned in my truck at yard and caught a bus home, since then I have found work at home and am happy with my deicision.

All in all, I had no real problems with Western and the first several months I was with them, I HAD A BLAST. It was fun and I loved, loved flatbed in my brand new truck! After a while thought the cracks started to appear, and although they really weren't that serious, I drew a line when simple requests were being ignored such as me not going home when I requsted it a month in advance and such. The way I see it: there was no reason as to why I couldn't get home on time every time. I was the driver who stayed out a month at a time and requested weekend home time a month in advance and couldn't get it. That was a huge issue for me, and probably the only issue, my dispatcher was cool even if he was a bit air headed, and of course you will encounter rude people who work for the company from time to time but that is to be expected. So, I really didn't have any gripes. Descent company to start out with and to use as a stepping stone.

Oh, and WillDawg, I don't really have any more of the truck per se, just the loads I was carrying. Sorry dude. Good luck to whoever is starting orientation, I'm sure you'll do just fine.

I could agree. The cracks are getting wider. But for a Stater, there good if you say in the low and cover your butt first. You gotta start somewhere.

Am still with western express and still enjoying it. My dm is awesome And getting plenty of miles so I am content to stay here for awhile or until I decide to go owner operator. That's the one drawback to western is they don't do owner operators.
