Flatbed, Does this happen often? I just a got a job offer from western express. Do you like it there? Can u give any feed back good or bad about them? Any insight from any current drivers would be great. Thinking of going Van division.

It only happens on weekend dispatch it seems...and afterhours. I don't think its the dispatchers but the receptionist that is doing it. On weekdays there are no big issues with getting whole of the dm. It has happened to me and it also happened to this other driver that I had given a rode down to our Birmingham terminal.

Western is pretty much like any other company, but as one has already said here, they got the freight and the miles. Sometimes more freight than they know what to do with I think. As long as you are willing to work you'll be rolling. It has its fair share of stress at times, and unfortunately if u have a pet, can't take it on the truck with you. Otherwise, its not a bad company to work with.

Oh, and good luck getting home, and if u do get home, good luck with being able to stay there longer than a day or two. Honestly, I would go somewhere else. There are better companies out there. Though, if you are looking for a second chance company, you are looking at the right company.

I would suggest a way to go back to school, though western does have a training option. Not sure if it is any good though as I didn't go through it. C.R. England should take you too. They have a better program than Western imho though they pay worse than Western. Getting the proper training and experience will help you with better jobs.

Reason why I suggest England is because their training program lasts a little longer than Westerns by a month and a half longer and a lot more extensive. For a van driver they have no real class instruction. You'll learn more if you get the right trainer. Better than Western's two week deal and then let you on your own and you end up rolling cause he didn't train you good enough, or u simply just wasn't ready.
